With over 30 years in the equipment finance industry, I’ve observed a reoccurring trend in departments, business units and organizations who are approaching process improvements much like a patchwork quilt.  The process of plugging holes and implementing “fixes” based on the crisis of the “moment”.   This approach typically doesn’t come without great expense, financially, with customer and vendor service implications,  and it is often taxing on resources because they are fighting a battle they can not sustain or win over the long haul.  When someone in the organization is anointed “Champion” for a cause, they need to have the entire enterprise / organization in mind and not simply their immediate project or problem.
