Here’s a very effective way to insure that your business card and contact information gets into your target audiences contact file.  Set up a business card contact in your smart phone including all of the critical contact information that would appear on your physical business card.  Be sure to include your social media links. For iPhone users, I recommend adding an additional field for content, I use “Departments”. In that field, key in the specialties or highlights of your business.  Now when you swap business cards, rather then relying on the other individual to enter your business particulars into their database, simply send a brief note thanking them for their time and include your contact / business card electronically.  Here is a sample of what it looks like:
